Quinta do Fraguil is not just a place, but a feeling. Rising 400 meters above the Douro River, it reveals the grandeur of the Douro Valley, the mountains, its artificial terraces and vineyards.
As a family, we lived an expat life for almost 25 years in three continents. We visited many different places and cultures, but decided to return to our roots, the city of Porto, and settle between there and the Douro.
It all started in 1998, on British and Irish farms, doing seasonal jobs here and there. The dream started but it wasn't the right time to make it happen. We had to travel and see the world. We lived in a few countries in Europe before moving on to West Africa and, finally, Southeast Asia. After many years, the opportunity arose and, thanks to a very dear person who is no longer with us, the dream came true and we found a unique place.

The farm was bought in 2019 and we immediately started work on the project to build the farmhouse. It took more than 2 years for the project to get off the drawing board and construction work to begin - meeting all the UNESCO World Heritage requirements is a task! Construction began at the end of 2021 and finished in March 2024, with many ups and downs, as with most constructions, but in the end and most importantly, it's done!.. in other words, we're now ready to welcome you!
We don't rent the house on its own, we rent the whole farm. Quinta do Fraguil is a small, rustic farm with many schist terraces, built centuries ago. The vineyard was also planted over a century ago, as were most of the olive trees. When you rent the house, you get all this, all the space just for you, for your family, friends or whoever you want to invite for your stay. You'll have over 5000 square meters of privacy and exclusivity overlooking the winding Douro River.
